Appreciation – the basis for motivation and performance in everyday working life

Organisations are often concerned with the question of how they can show their employees more appreciation. For employees, appreciation is a decisive factor in feeling good and building a stronger bond with the company. An appreciative corporate culture can significantly increase employee motivation and satisfaction.

This not only leads to a better working atmosphere, but can also increase productivity and loyalty to the company. Employers therefore have the opportunity to make a real difference and have a lasting positive impact on the working atmosphere through targeted measures and sincere recognition of their employees' achievements.

#1 – Appreciation is our emotional content!

Financial and material remuneration are the basic and contractually agreed consideration for our work. Just like appropriate work equipment, for example, these are among the hygiene factors of work and are therefore indispensable. Appreciation begins where these hygiene factors are fulfilled and has the potential to motivate and retain employees much more strongly.

#2 – Appreciation protects our health in stressful situations!

A study by the University of California has found that a lack of gratitude in stressful situations can lead to reduced blood flow and increased vasoconstriction. These negative reactions were not observed in the test group that showed gratitude to each other. Appreciation therefore helps us to stay healthy even in stressful times.

#3 – Appreciation increases our motivation and team cohesion!

It is a key factor that gets us up in the morning and makes us enjoy our work. Appreciation motivates us from within and gives us the feeling that our work is valuable and recognised. Furthermore, appreciation fosters team spirit by creating a sense of community and mutual respect.
