Agile working and process optimisation
The challenge
The communications industry is faced with rising customer expectations, inefficient or slow workflows and increasing pressure to innovate.
Against the backdrop of its new corporate strategy, a medium-sized digital agency commissioned us to analyse existing structures, processes and working methods, identify pain points and build a self-learning, agile system.
Based on team reviews, we define the relevant work packages for more customer centricity, innovative spirit and competitive differentiation. In an agile process with iterative sprints, we support teams and management during setup and implementation.
Procedure
At the beginning of the process, we develop a deep understanding of the initial situation through the moderated discussion of pain points and collection of action items in the individual teams. From this, we derive work packages in the three dimensions of strategy & management, architecture & infrastructure and culture & skills as the basis for the holistic transformation to a self-learning organisation.
We establish an agile leadership circle for the orchestrated design and implementation of the work packages with distributed responsibilities in the teams. This plans the implementation and prioritisation and works on the work packages, e.g. internal communication, tech implementation, „agility“ concept training, in iterative sprints.
In order to establish agile work processes throughout the company, we set up a pilot team that develops agile working and an agile mindset in a protected space. We develop a team canvas including a vision, roles, routines and artefacts and support the pilot team in fortnightly sprints including sprint planning, review and retro. In this way, we create the basis for sharing learnings and results internally and for scaling agile working methods. At the same time, the team develops innovative and customer-centred products for the company.
We set up regular and transparent communication of the status quo and constantly reflect on current progress together with the Leadership Circle.
Results and benefits
A common understanding and prioritisation of the work packages to be processed, an agile, transparent management process including routines and mechanics for tracking the work packages and an agile pilot team as the nucleus for product innovations and agility in the company.
