In-house training: Facilitation and moderation of retrospectives

Green notes with retrospective principles such as “Feedback is gold”, “Our mistakes help us move forward” and “Alone we are good, together we are better” on a wooden floor

Learn how to confidently and effectively introduce and facilitate retrospectives in your company in three half-day sessions – with an optional practical training component at your company.

Retrospectives are a key tool for improving teamwork in a targeted manner, learning from experience, and developing teams in a sustainable way to make them more effective. In this training, you will learn how to facilitate retrospectives confidently, effectively, and with clarity – even when the going gets tough.

You will receive a thorough introduction to setting up retro routines and facilitating retros. Step by step, you will develop the skills to guide teams through structured reviews, enable reflection and derive concrete improvement measures. The training is explicitly aimed at beginners – no prior knowledge of agile working is required.

What are retrospectives?

The term „retrospective“ means „looking back“. In retrospectives – or retros for short – a team looks back together on past collaboration, working methods or a project. The aim is to consciously reflect on what went well, where things got stuck and what can be improved in the future.

Retros originate from agile working, but follow a universal principle: learning through joint reflection. They can be used after and during projects, regularly within the team or on an ad hoc basis. In a protected setting, problems, tensions and dissatisfaction are openly addressed – as are successes and joint achievements.

Well-moderated retros provide orientation, promote learning and strengthen teamwork.

Why are retros relevant?

Retros are much more than a methodical meeting format. Used correctly, they support the development of a self-learning system within the company. Teams experience that they can actively shape their collaboration and that their perspectives count.

Retros promote self-efficacy and personal responsibility, strengthen the ability to deal with conflicts constructively, and contribute to an open feedback and learning culture. They help not only to demand continuous improvement, but also to make it a tangible experience.

Advantages of retros at a glance

  • Continuous improvement of collaboration, processes and results
  • Strengthening of self-efficacy and responsibility
  • Stronger collaboration and greater mutual understanding within the team
  • Building a culture of openness, trust and appreciation
  • Space to highlight and celebrate successes
  • Avoiding pent-up frustration and unspoken conflicts

How does the training work?

The training consists of three digital half-day sessions that build on each other and combine theory with practical examples. Between sessions, you will have the opportunity to reflect on the content and gain initial experience.

Optionally, the training can be supplemented with follow-up sessions or an additional practical module to strengthen sustainability and deepen application in your own company context.

Session content

Session 1 – Basics & preparation

In the first session, we establish a common understanding of retrospectives and their impact and highlight ways in which retro routines can be implemented in the company.

  • Check-in and getting to know each other
  • Expectations of the training and exchange of previous experiences
  • Advantages and possible applications of retros
  • Retro basics: definition, types, process and phases
  • Deep dive: Phase 1 – Preparing for a retro
  • Check-out

Session 2 – Implementation & moderation

In the second session, the focus is on the specific moderation and implementation of retros – here we also provide assistance for „critical“ situations.

  • Check-in and recap of the first session
  • Deep Dive: Phase 2 – Conducting a Retrospective
  • Role and attitude of the facilitator
  • Dealing with typical challenges in retros
  • Check-out

Session 3 – Follow-up & transfer

  • The third session is dedicated to the lasting impact of retros.

  • Deep dive: Phase 3 – Follow-up to retros
  • Ensuring implementation and sustainability
  • Open questions and next steps
  • Feedback and check-out

Optional components

Follow-ups

After the three training sessions, four follow-up appointments can be arranged on an optional basis. These serve to discuss practical challenges, clarify questions and reflect on experiences together as a group.

Theory meets practice: additional module

On request, we can combine the theoretical content with the concrete introduction of retros in your company. Over a period of up to six months, we accompany the implementation of retros in several teams – in a combination of shadowing (you observe a retro moderated by us) and rehearsal (you moderate yourself and receive feedback from us).

How much does the training cost?

€8,900 plus VAT per group (max. 8 participants) for three half-day digital training sessions.

Optional extras:

  • Follow-ups: Four two-hour sessions over the course of a year → €3,500 plus VAT.
  • Theory-practice module: Conducting up to 12 retrospectives in several teams within 6 months → €9,900 plus VAT.

Cancellation is free of charge up to two weeks before the start of training. Two weeks before the booked date, the invoice will be issued and the full price for the training and optional components will be due. All prices exclude VAT.

Your advantages with bemorrow

We know what we're talking about. We are experienced transformation and retro experts and bring our expertise and practical experience directly into the training. With over 15 years of professional experience each, we always have concrete practical examples to draw on and can also share insider knowledge. This makes theory clear, tangible and easily transferable to your everyday work.

Practical training materials that are fun to use. We are convinced that it is not particularly easy to learn from a PDF with dozens of pages of continuous text. Instead, we work on the content collaboratively on a digital workboard. Afterwards, you will receive digital templates and checklists for conducting the retro.

Digital for complete location flexibility. No matter where you are working, we conduct all sessions digitally, and you can join in from anywhere.

Relaxed processing. Fair cancellation policies and invoicing that isn't months in advance ensure that you can concentrate fully on the training.
